When a Hindi AI voice says one word incorrectly, changing the voice is not always the answer. Small text changes often solve the problem. Use this checklist before generating a long narration.

Check matras and joined words

A missing matra changes both meaning and sound. Read the script once at normal speed and look specifically for short and long vowel marks. Copying text from images or PDFs can also join words or introduce invisible characters.

Insert normal spaces between words. If a compound word sounds unclear, test a natural pause or rewrite the phrase in simpler Hindi rather than adding random symbols.

Handle names and locations

Proper names may have several accepted spellings. Search your own previous videos or an official Hindi source to find the spelling used by the person or organisation. For foreign names, write a phonetic Devanagari version and test it alone.

Keep the chosen spelling in a channel pronunciation list. Consistency builds trust, especially in news and educational content.

Write the intended sound, then test it in context: ‘सर्जियो गोर ने कहा…’ A name may sound different alone and inside a full sentence.

Make numbers unambiguous

Digits can be read as a full number, a date, a code or separate digits. Write the number in words when the exact spoken form matters. This is especially useful for years, money, percentages and phone-like sequences.

Use the audience’s natural convention. For a Hindi explainer, ‘पच्चीस प्रतिशत’ is usually clearer than ‘25%’. For a technical table, the symbol may still be appropriate on screen even if the narration uses words.

  • 2026 → दो हज़ार छब्बीस
  • ₹1,500 → एक हज़ार पाँच सौ रुपये
  • 3.5% → तीन दशमलव पाँच प्रतिशत
  • 24/7 → चौबीसों घंटे

Use punctuation as a pronunciation tool

A comma can separate two words that the model is blending. A full stop can prevent the last word of one idea from running into the next. A question mark helps signal a question, but exaggerated punctuation does not guarantee emotion.

After correcting a word, listen to the complete sentence. A phonetic spelling that fixes the word may still damage the rhythm around it.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Should Hindi numbers use digits or words?

Use words when the spoken form must be exact. Digits are fine when the context is simple and the output has been tested.

Can punctuation fix every pronunciation?

No. Punctuation helps rhythm and separation; spelling or a clearer rewrite may still be needed.
